It was refreshing to have my parents over for the weekend. They flew in Wednesday night and left Sunday morning.
Thursday was spent driving around Connecticut: Historic South Windsor, cemeteries, and the light house in New Haven.
Friday was our drive to the big apple and "red bus" tour. What an experience! There is just too much to see, so the bus tour was definitely the way to go. We got to see the city and hear interesting, yet random facts about the buildings and what goes on in the streets of New York.
We spent the night at Club Quarters, which turned out to be a pretty good hotel. It was located near the financial district, so the city noise didn't bother us too much. In fact, I rather enjoyed falling asleep to the rumblings below us. (Jakob didn't mind it either)
Saturday was spent in the rain. We took the ferry across Statten Island and saw the Statue of Liberty then spent the rest of the day walking through the rain, shopping at FAO Shwartz, trying to figure out the connections on the subway, and driving back to Connecticut.
We were glad to have my parents visit us. I hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.
