Making Memories: Acadia National Park, part 4

The day started at 4:30am, right with the sun.  Gotta love camping with kids. :)

Here's a quick rundown of the day:

ate french toast for breakfast
prepared lunches for a picnic
got bikes loaded
drove to hiking/biking trails at the Jordan Pond House
went on a 20 mile bike ride
dealt with multiple interruptions from kids fighting, being hungry, tired, and somewhat bored...many times...
enjoyed waterfalls, meadows, lakes, a family of foxes, a mouse, and a great workout!
(I felt bad for Danny because he had to pull the kids up the steep hills.  He had run out of steam by the last trail.....luckily he made it back to the car and I didn't have to carry him.  I was proud of us!)
took a leisurely drive to the South West Harbor of the park
stopped at Ship Harbor trail to see tide pools
ate at a local ice cream parlor: Danny, Moose Tracks; Jamie, Wicked Good Chocolate; Jakob, Cotton Candy; Molly, a taste from everyone else.
arrived at camp and started a fire for dinner
prepared our BBQ dinner: two Chicken Kabob marinades-BBQ sauce and Italian dressing
(We also had corn on the cob, watermelon, and chips.  The kids ate spaghetti noodles instead of chicken....Jakob is becoming more and more picky as he gets older)
enjoyed smores for dessert
played a bit before bed (riding bikes and pushing Molly in the stroller)
put kids to bed without a car ride this time! 
packed up camp and loaded the car

Danny and I packed up as much as we could and loaded the car so we didn't have as much to do in the morning before our drive home.  I really like to just have things done so we can put the kids in the car and go.  It proved to be a good decision because we woke up to a thunder storm and everything got wet.  The kids were unsure what to do with the noises; they usually just sleep through thunder storms, so to experience a storm like this in a tent was a bit scary.  I had both kids trying to hide their face for some comfort from the loud noise.  Poor babies!  We packed as quickly as we could and left around 7:00am.

We decided to make a stop at the top of Cadillac Mountain because the fog had lifted from the storm.  It wasn't completely clear; there were pockets of clouds resting on the water, but it still made for an amazing view and a better idea of the geography of the island.

I would have to say that our first camping trip was EPIC!!  It really was a great first time with the kids.
