Memorial Day

It was nice having Danny home for Memorial Day.  He doesn't get very many holidays off so when he's home with the family it's a real treat!

We spent most of the day with our friends who are new to the area.  They recently moved here from Georgia and so it has been fun introducing them to the happenings of our lovely town.  I sure do enjoy where we live.

We started the morning off with the short, but sweet, Memorial Day Parade and then headed to the beach for some sunny, sandy fun.  We agreed on a beach that neither of us had been to so it was an adventure for all of us.  Despite a cooler breeze and near 70 temps, the sunny weather was well needed.  We had to wear jackets for most of the morning but still managed to get some sun.  The kids loved digging in the sand, splashing and running from the water, and riding the carousel.  On the way home we searched for a 5 Guys (cheeseburgers and fries) and then indulged in some homemade Oreo ice cream-it's not quite a holiday without ice cream!  :)
