Projects!

I have been trying to keep up on some of the things I enjoy, like scrapping and crocheting for example.  It was just a few weeks ago that I realized it had been a year since my last project making baby blankets.  I figured it was time to create something again:
I had some left over yarn from a previous project so I just used it to make this hat.  I think I like how it turned out-I'm still trying to decide.  My friend introduced me to the website ravelry.com which allows you to sign up and get free crochet/knitting patterns.  It's also a social network so when you finish a project you can share it with friends and get other ideas.  I haven't been on the site since making the hat, but I really like that I can get free patterns whenever I'm getting the itch to create something.

I have also been trying to keep up on the scrapbooks.  TRYING is the key word.  It's much harder to stay on top of two books, let alone one, but I constantly think about getting back to it whenever I have some down time (which is hardly ever).  It's kind of a pain to get everything set up, work for an hour and then take it all down so the kiddos don't destroy everything.  It's certainly not on the top of my list of things to do because it takes more time than I'm willing to give.
Luckily in January I was introduced to a digital scrap booking company that provided relief from my stress of paper cutouts(Some of you are probably thinking, it's just scrap booking, right?  No big deal?  Well, if you've been following my blog I'm sure you can understand how often I take pictures and record events).  Ever since signing up I have been pleased and excited to scrap again; it is incredibly simple! I started with Molly's first Christmas and finished 6 pages in 3 days.  Everything that I need, including the paper, embellishments, letter cutouts, stickers, and buttons, are right at my finger tips.  I can sit on the couch and scrapbook while Danny watches sports or something else less interesting.  We are still spending time together, just participating in separate events.  The thing that I am most excited about is when it's time to "clean up" I just hit the save button and put the lap top away.  It is fantastic!  Also, the fact that I can create cards and invitations and use other templates from members of the company that have already created and shared, just makes me even happier because it's usually a pain to have to drag kids into a store to find a card when my time is limited.  Plus it's nice to use someone else's idea and make it my own.
So, since I have "gone digital" and have found that I really love it, I've considered being a consultant and getting others excited about it too! (I have yet to make a final decision on that)

The last project that has been keeping me busy is making THAI FOOD!
It all started in November when my good friend made us dinner and introduced me to some of the best tasting spices: curry and ginger.  If you have never had an authentic thai/curry dish, I suggest you try it!  It can be pretty spicy, though, so taste with caution. :)
My sweet friend has been helping me get supplies to make some of my own amazing meals, even letting me use some of her favorite recipes.  So far, so good.  I think my favorite dish right now is red curry with pineapple, chicken, and coconut milk.    YUM!

Good for you for taking the initiative to do things that you enjoy doing. That can be so hard with little kids. Good work on the hat! It's been a while since I've done something crafty. It'll probably be a while longer still, but I may have to check out that website.

What scrapbooking website are you using? I've used blurb, but I'd like to see what else is out there.
