We gladly welcomed April with warmer temperatures, sunny spring days, and lots of outdoor activities (including yard work). The kids are longing for swimsuit weather because of all the sun they are soaking in, but are still enjoying the 65 degree jacket weather and cool spring breezes. We are eager to enjoy the back covered deck for eating dinner outside or occasional dessert parties; however, it's not quite warm enough by dinner time for such activities. Almost.
We are busy, busy, BUSY! Lots of things are happening and lots of end of the year activities are in order. The kids started up swim lessons, Jakob just started spring soccer, Molly's dance class is wrapping up for the year, and sophia is ever enjoying being alongside the older two. Jakob is counting down the days until school is out and all of us are happily gearing up for our travels this summer. It's coming up quick!
We just started working on our hyperactive yard. I didn't realize before how bad the backyard vines have overgrown and taken over the trees. The beautiful hickory in the back corner is being swallowed by thick vines clinging to its branches. We've tried pulling and breaking the vines lose, but to our effort nothing can be done but to cut the vines and/or branches down--which we will need to pay someone to do it for us because of the great height of our trees. Danny has been breaking his back, working on stump removal and he just discovered a few days ago that he is highly sensitive to poison ivy (or oak....whatever is lurking back there). We're trying to jump on it QUICKLY before the trees start budding thousands of leaves, making it even more difficult for us. It's sad to say, but we enjoy it. We enjoy being active in our OWN yard, making plans to make it beautiful and functional. We have such great ideas! I just wish it could all be done with so we can start enjoying it already.
The grass is also an issue, but will most likely be put off for another year.
It has been rejuvenating watching the trees blossom, the bees buzzing, the birds chirping and the rays of sun warming my skin. I am really happy to have life all around me. It keeps me moving forward.
We are so happy in our home! It is an amazing blessing that we enjoy daily.
