Two For One

How lucky is Danny when he gets a two-for-one?  It happens almost every year for my birthday since it's near Christmas, but this year he lucked out twice.

Our 8th Anniversary was the same day as Mother's Day this year.  It wasn't the same day when we got married or else I would have reevaluated our plans.  Oh well, who knew this sort of thing would happen?  I'm a lucky person to celebrate being a mother and a wife in one day.  It's only too bad that I had to remind Danny that it was his job to do something for me/us.  I know he cares about me and this one special day shouldn't define our entire marriage, but it's nice to celebrate (especially when it involves TWO special days).  It's bad luck if you don't, right?  

  Thank goodness the hubby pulled through.  I gave him a few suggestions of  worthy celebration gifts and then he ran to the store.  This is what our relationship has come to:  I tell him what to buy and then he tries to surprise me with the purchase.  It works.  

The next morning Danny surprised me with breakfast: eggs and toast, topped with honey from the local farm.    I also enjoyed a bouquet of tulips and Martinellis sparkling apple grape.  Again, it works.  

Jakob gave me a Mother's Day card and made sure to give lots of sweet hugs and kisses and told me several times that he loved me.  

Molly let me do her hair. She has been boycotting that for a while now so it was a special surprise. 

In celebration of our 8th the family is planning an overnight vacation in New Jersey this weekend.  I know it's not the most exotic first choice, but we've never been before and the kids are in need of a get away; preferably somewhere with a pool.  The hotel takes care of that so we'll make it an honorary Anniversary celebration (with the family).  It works.  :)
