Hurricane Jonas

It's that time again for snow boots, coats, hats, gloves, and the inconvenience of constantly putting on, taking off, and tripping over all the winter accessories.  Ugh.

Hurricane Jonas graced us last week.  The span of the storm reached Washington D.C. all the way to the top of Connecticut.  Luckily we weren't in the heart of the storm, although we got a whopping 12 inches in one day, but I do feel for those who got up to 3 feet!  It's truly devastating to have so much snow with no where to put it.

The kids were eager for their snow day and worked happily together with their gear. It's all fun and games until it isn't.  ha ha

I was happy that Jakob remembered the snow board again this year.  He took it straight down the hill with ease.  Molly used it as a sled and was happy to participate in her own way.  The kids joined the neighbors from across the street and were out sledding until dark.  I'm grateful for a safe, inviting neighborhood where I feel comfortable letting my kids play while knowing there are watchful eyes nearby.  They, of course, had the best time and only because of the cold did they finally decide to trek back in.  They were treated to some hot chocolate and mini-marshmallows (thanks aunt kelly) and dinner.

Already a week has gone by and the snow is melting fast.  Hooray.  I'm happy the kids got their snow day and hot chocolate, I got my warm soup and bread, but I still dream about spring lurking around the corner and I can hardly wait for it to grace our presence.
